Formglide vs Typeform
A Typeform alternative built for people running paid traffic
Typeform basically invented the modern conversational form — the cinematic, one-question-at-a-time flow that made “send me a Typeform” a verb in some agencies. If you're running a one-off survey or an internal event RSVP, its design polish is still genuinely good, and its editor is pleasant to use.
This page is for a narrower audience: agencies and growth marketers spending real ad budget to get someone to open a form. If that's you, the gaps below stop being minor annoyances the moment a lead comes from a paid campaign — because a dropped submission, a bot-polluted result set, or a form that goes private mid-flight is money you already spent, wasted.

The five failures
What paid-traffic users actually run into
1. Response caps kill live campaigns mid-flight
Confirmed by Typeform's own Help Center: at 100% of your monthly quota, the form flips to Private — and respondents mid-fill are not saved as partial or complete. There's no recovery after you upgrade; the data is just gone.
“When you reach 100% of your response limit, your forms will go into Private mode.”
“TIME PMO ran a workshop with 30+ participants on a free Typeform account... 36 people had 'started' the form but only 6 completed responses were recorded”
Our answer: the submit endpoint never rejects for quota. Over-quota responses are stored, flagged, and released the instant you upgrade — nothing is ever lost.
2. Bots eat the ad spend that brought the lead
Every fake submission from a bot is ad spend you already paid for, wasted. Basic CAPTCHA/bot protection sits behind Typeform's ~$199/mo Growth tier — a price point built for lead-gen volume, not the businesses actually running it.
“CAPTCHA and bot protection are exclusively available on Typeform's Growth plans starting at $199 per month... a critical gap that makes lower-tier plans impractical for lead generation or paid advertising campaigns”
“Security is the main issue as there is No insurance against bots”
Our answer: Cloudflare Turnstile is free on every plan, including Free. It isn't an upsell.
3. No ad-stack: no A/B testing, no CAPI, no lead validation
Typeform is a survey and conversational-form tool first. Its own direct comparison against a performance-marketing-focused competitor concedes the gap plainly.
“weak on performance marketing features - no A/B testing, no CAPI, no lead validation”
Our answer: UTM + hidden-field capture, Meta Pixel + server-side CAPI, GA4 events per step, and 50/50 A/B testing — native, from the first paid tier.
4. Drop-off analytics gated to the priciest tier
Question-level friction and drop-off data — the exact thing a performance marketer needs to fix a leaky funnel — is reserved for Typeform's Business plan and up.
“Having better analytics in the lower tiers would be helpful”
“Not much easy ways to analyse the results”
Our answer: per-step drop-off analytics and partial-submission capture ship on Pro, not a $129/mo plan.
5. Billing dark patterns
Silent auto-renewals, a cancel button reviewers describe as deliberately hidden, and a documented no-refund policy — this is the single biggest driver of Typeform's 1.4/5 Trustpilot rating.
“No refunds: When I tried to cancel, I was told that Typeform does not issue refunds under any circumstances.”
“It's so unfortunate that the cancel plan button is HIDDEN and not well placed”
“they make you complete two (of the same) forms then make you set up multi-factor authentication”
Our answer: the fair-billing pledge — 14-day renewal warning, one-click cancel, 14-day no-questions refund, data export free forever.
The question everyone's asking
The Bending Spoons question
In October 2025, Bloomberg (via Il Messaggero) reported that Bending Spoons — a serial acquirer whose deals include Evernote, Vimeo, WeTransfer, and Meetup — was pursuing Typeform[10]. As of this writing, we could not confirm the deal has formally closed: Typeform doesn't appear in Bending Spoons' own list of completed acquisitions, and an independent company-data provider states plainly that Typeform “remains an independent, privately-held company without any concluded acquisition”[11].
What isconfirmed: Typeform raised prices roughly 30% while in reported acquisition talks with Bending Spoons — the company behind Evernote's price hike, Vimeo's mass layoffs, and WeTransfer's staff cuts[2].
Independent pricing snapshots show Typeform's Basic, Plus, and Business tiers all rose roughly 30–34% between a February 2025 snapshot and a January 2026 snapshot of Typeform's own pricing page[2]— the exact window during which the acquisition talks were reported. We're not claiming causation. We're pointing out the timing.
And here is Bending Spoons' documented track record on the deals it has closed:
- Evernote — bought 2023; paid pricing rose from roughly $100/yr to $249/yr, and the company laid off its existing US/Chile staff[12],[13].
- Vimeo— bought for $1.38B, closed September 2025; personal annual plans rose from $69.99 to $129.99 (+86%), with some legacy accounts reportedly migrated to hikes as steep as 2,400%, and the “vast majority” of staff — including the entire video engineering team — were laid off in January 2026[14],[15].
- WeTransfer — bought July 2024; roughly 75% of the workforce was laid off within weeks, and the free plan was cut from unlimited to 10 transfers/month[16],[17].
- Meetup — bought January 2024; organizer fees reportedly tripled and core community features were paywalled, with one organizer describing costs as more than doubling since the takeover[18],[19].
Maybe it'll be different this time. But if you'd rather not find out with your lead-gen forms…
